Life of a Blogger is hosted by Jessi from Novel Heartbeat
I decided I really like combining a bunch of these posts into one, large post! So here I am, back to share more of my life outside of blogging!
Genres of Music
I’m going to be super lame here and say I appreciate almost all genres of music, but the following three will always hold a special place in my heart.
I stumbled onto Indie Rock music in University (I’m so cliche). I had a 64GB iPod Classic and it was filled with everything from Death Cab, The Shins and Broken Social Scene to Spoon and Bloc Party. More recently I’ve been listening to a lot of Mother Mother (who I got to see live this summer; they were AMAZING!) and Arcade Fire. Arcade Fire was a band I always liked well-enough, but after getting to see them live a couple summers a go, I have a whole new appreciation for them. Their stage presence is just electric and you can’t help but bob along!
I’m a country girl at heart, having grown up in a small farming town. Oddly enough, I didn’t really grow to love country music until I was in University; I think it reminded me of home, which was comforting. Some of my favourite country artists are Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, and Lady Antebellum, but I’ll listen to pretty much anything that’s current (I’m not a big fan of old-school country).
I grew up on Classic Rock. Queen, Nazareth, Boston, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin – all those power-ballad rockers who knew exactly when to break into a perfectly-timed guitar solo
If I Could Live Anywhere
I’ve always dreamed of living close to a big city, but far enough into the country that I could live on a lake. I want a house that’s all windows in the front, facing a relatively secluded backyard that overlooks a sparkling, clear lake. I’ve always thought about how I would live some place hot and exotic, but I’ve realized that home is where my family is. So while I would love to live in my version of paradise – which is the Greek Isles, the more I research it! – I would be even happier to find my house on a lake, close to my family.
Plans for the Future
My (hopefully) nearish future would involve a house and kid(s). I’d be quite content to be a stay-at-home mom who dabbled in photography and web design. So, if I’m to make that a feasible goal, I need to get my ass to some photography/web design classes!
Introvert or Extrovert
I’ve always thought of myself as an extrovert – I can carry a conversation with pretty much anyone and I’m quite outgoing. But I have a lot of introvert tendencies – I live for quiet nights in, with a good book or just myself for company. I’d rather have a low-key evening in with a few good friends than do anything else that involves a large group of people.
I don’t know that I feel guilty over anything I find pleasure in. It’s kind of my motto for life – if it feels good, do it! I’m not ashamed to say I’m a Belieber or a die hard Leafs fan. I’m a sucker for MTV reality TV (Teen Mom and The Hills being my favourites!) and chocolate is my biggest weakness. I love Pokemon (Pokemon X has changed my life!) and there will always be room for Disney cartoons on my DVD shelf. I like my bass loud and deep enough to feel it in my bones, which means I have a natural appreciation for most hip hop/rap songs. If it wasn’t so unhealthy, I would eat fast food for every meal – it doesn’t seem to matter how old I get, nothing gets my mouth watering like the thought of some Micky D’s! I sleep in on my days off – sometimes as late as noon!, and when I’m home, I’m in sweats. I love chicken nuggets and I put ketchup on EVERYTHING. My life’s an open book – when it comes to feeling guilt over what I love to do, I say bah hum bug!
How about you? What’s your philosophy on guilty pleasures? Plans for the future? What genres of music get you excited?
