Life of a Blogger is hosted by Jessi from Novel Heartbeat
One of the things I knew I wanted from Pretty Little Reader in 2014 was personal touches; I wanted to expand PLR into more than just a book blog. So when I heard about Jessi’s Life of a Blogger series, I just knew I would have to participate! Since I’ve missed a few posts, I’m going to touch on each subject covered so far!
I can’t possibly name my favourite bands; I’ve got far too many! I do have certain albums that I’ve been playing on repeat lately, so for this purpose, they’ll do:
Lady Gaga, Artpop; Katy Perry, Prism; Mother Mother, The Sticks; Childish Gambino, Because the Internet; Eminem, The Marshall Mathers LP 2
I’ve got two kitties, named Mumble and Chubs. They’re sisters and their seventh birthday is fast approaching! Mumble is the orange/black calico and Chubs is the white/orange calico. I’ve had them both since they were kittens, and my parents have their siblings, Lilo and Yogi. Mumble is very independent, but when she wants a cuddle you better be ready because she will make you stop whatever you’re doing to get attention! Chubs is the biggest sook, and is always up for a good cuddle. She’s usually sitting in my lap while I’m reading.
I always dreamed of being a lawyer, but after four years of University, I couldn’t stomach the thought of another three years. So, for now, I work for a cell phone company! Some days are better than others, but I love the people I work with and my company is actually pretty good to its employees; I get a new cell phone every year! Haha
I’m the reason Netflix started releasing its independently produced shows by season. I never watch a TV show while it’s still on air (except for Game of Thrones – Winter is coming!); I binge watch seasons at a time. Most recently my husband and I binged on Breaking Bad, The Americans and Orange is the New Black and we’re currently on the third season of Sons of Anarchy (which better be better than the second – I did not like the second season, at all). I’ve also made my way through four seasons of Pretty Little Liars. It’s the best way to watch tv!
Aaron and I got married on September 29th, 2012. We met in early 2010 and I knew almost immediately that he was someone I needed in my life. He’s my best friend, my partner in crime and my better half. These photos are from our trip to the Valley for our first wedding anniversary!
This is too hard! I’ve got favourites from my childhood – Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, The Neverending Story – and favourites from my teenaged years – Mean Girls (I can quote that whole movie) and Crazy Beautiful – and favourites for all time – Love Actually, Moulin Rouge, Chicago. There’s also movies that I don’t know if they’re favourites yet, but I really enjoyed them in theatres – The Great Gatsby and Wolf of Wall Street come to mind.
I binge watch TV series? Haha, but seriously. It’s a problem.
I love to shop! Even if it’s just window shopping, there’s something about walking around a mall and checking out what’s for sale. Finding new places to eat is a lot of fun for me too, especially since I’m such a particular eater (I had one of Aaron’s family members tell me that, now that I’m older, I’m not longer a “fussy” eater; I’m “particular”). When it’s warm enough, the beach is my safe haven and I can often be found there both alone or with friends. If I’m alone, I’m usually accompanied by my iPod and a book. If I’m with friends, it’s usually with a cooler of beverages and some sort of beach game equipment.
The first car I ever drove was a 1991 Mercury Marquis. To this day, my parents adamantly refer to it as our “salmon” vehicle; it was pink. It won me “Coolest Ride” my senior year of high school.
The first car I ever kind-of owned was a 1992 Mustang. She was a beast, and she is now driven (rather reluctantly) by my youngest sister.
The first car I ever paid for was a 2002 Ford Focus. She served me well, but the rust finally caught up to her. Which is why last June, the hubs and I sprung for a 2012 Mazda 3!
Craziest Thing You’ve Ever Done
I’ve calmed down quite a bit in my old age, but when I was a teenager in a small town, we did all kinds of stupid stuff. There was this hill near my parents house that we used to drag race on, or that we used to test how fast our cars would go before topping out. Thinking back on it, it was reckless and stupid, but it was also a lot of fun!
I think the craziest thing I ever did was put my teacher’s house for sale, during the middle of the afternoon. My senior year of high school, the teachers went on strike. I’m not sure how it worked, but for some reason that meant we ended up with a 2 hour lunch break. During one of those lunch breaks, someone casually commented on how funny it would be to put someone’s house up for sale, without them knowing it. My girlfriends and I (who were known as the 4 Horsewomen), said we could do it, if we wanted. Someone else dared us to get it done during one of our lunch breaks, and after someone claimed it would be impossible, we set out! We used my friend’s purple mini-van, came to a rolling stop in front of a house that was for sale, stole the For Sale sign off the poor person’s front lawn, jammed in in the mini-van and took off with the side door open. When we were at a safe distance from prying eyes, we re-positioned the sign, closed the side door and drove half an hour to our physics teacher’s house and stuck it on his lawn. He later told us that his mother called him at the end of that school day, upset with him for not telling her that he was moving! We never admitted it was us, but he sat us down and explained how much we could have gotten fined had someone seen us. Apparently the sign we took was like $500 (or he was really trying to scare us…)
I’m not a big crusher on celebrities, although the Hubs and I have agreed that, given the chance, I’m allowed to sleep with George Clooney – no questions asked. If there’s one person I would consider crushing on though, it’s got to be Ryan Gosling. Why?
He’s gorgeous, even when he’s pulling faces.
I mean, come on.
I’ll just let Ryan take it from here.
